Nidhi Mishra, Counsellor, AISECT, Raipur
Nidhi first notes down the details about candidate’s education and family background, and then tries to gauge their interests. According to their aptitude and education levels, she suggests them the right trade for their career growth as per the current market demand. She counsels and encourages students to go for jobs outside their hometown. This helps them in increasing exposure and adds to their confidence levels.
There are a few challenges as well. Candidates are not well aware of career opportunities and the market scenario. Most of the candidates who come to the centre are unaware of technical subjects, and hence are hesitant to choose technical trades like FTCP, Ass. electrician, etc. They prefer convenient trades like DDEO. Candidates do not attend classes on a regular basis. Most the trainees are not willing to take jobs outside their hometown.
Candidate should participate along with their parents at the time of counselling so that both are familiar with the different trades running in the centre and the main objective of PMKK. Norms should be improved for the candidates who discontinue the training after registration. Study Material should be provided on time. Candidates must be encouraged to take next level trainings.
