Business Communication is one of the critical skills to enhance employability quotient in the dynamic job market. In many undergraduate courses Business English forms a component of the syllabus. Faculty members teaching Business English need formal training and certification to acquire domain specific knowledge and skills in making the program successful. On 4th May 2017, Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK) formally recognized 13 faculty members from Telangana in an event held at Hyderabad.

TASK successfully completed the Business English Certification Pilot in 5 districts of Telangana. On this occasion, the faculty members were recognized by the British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew McAllister and Chief Executive Officer TASK, Mr. Sujiv Nair at the TASK office.

task business englishIn April 2016, TASK and Cambridge English had signed an MOU to pilot Business English Certification for students in Telangana. Subsequently 57-Faculty teaching English in Engineering Colleges went through a TSP (Teacher Support Program) by Cambridge English. These faculty in-turn took the responsibility of skilling students in their colleges and preparing them for the BEC Certification. 239 students got skilled over a period of 3 months and then took the BEC certification and 86% of them cleared the certification exam at various levels.

Cambridge Business EnglishSpeaking on the occasion British Deputy High Commissioner Mr. Andrew McAllister said “Honourable Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India and Make in India initiatives depend on the ability of young people to contribute to the workforce. Employers in both public and private sectors are seeking people with communication skills and this is often the key differentiator amongst candidates with the same skill set. I believe TASK is absolutely right to tackle this challenge head on. Partnering with the UK and its world class providers like Cambridge English is a great first step and a powerful statement of intent.”

CEO- TASK, Mr. Sujiv Nair thanked the faculty for their initiative to train the students in their colleges and indicated that there were several students from Khammam, Warangal, Karimnagar, Rangaredddy and Hyderabad who cleared the certification, which is a reinforcement of the saying that “practice makes a man perfect”. Going forward there are plans to expand this program across more districts in Telangana. He urged the faculty members to continue their efforts in training students thereby increasing their confidence and morale.

About Cambridge English: Cambridge English is the world’s leading authority on English language testing for all learners of English and qualifications for English language teachers.
