Mimly Dutta, Facilitator (BFSI & Soft Skill domain), Mohali
If you ask Mimly to cite the reason for which she took up facilitation, this statement would sum it all – “You become empowered by empowering!” Encouraging others to dream big, to strive for what they want, and to be able to Contribute positively to the lives of others is an empowering feeling. Excited to explore a new territory, Mimly plunged into it.
At one glance, it seemed that it was home ground for her; after all she had to train people. She carries with her significant experience in Corporate Training; the need, methodology and outcome of which was completely different from the vision of TATA Strive.
The first week and her mind was inundated with innumerable thoughts and questions. The kind of audience she would be interacting with would be completely different. It was more than just training, she had to understand their needs, know where they came from, connect with them not just at the surface but at a deeper level, visit their communities, interact with their families; all this and she was an introvert!!
Moreover, there was Mobilization, of which she had neither an inkling nor previous experience. Soon, it was time for the TTT at Mumbai and on the first day itself she had made a decision. It was to keep an open mind, see everything from a new perspective and empty her cup so that she can fill it herself with new learnings. After all, isn’t freeing and expanding one’s mind the first step towards empowerment? – She asks!
A project which has had a significant impact on her as a Facilitator was at TSEC Jaipur. When she had signed up for it, she hadn’t put much thought into it, assumed that it would be just facilitation. However, it was more than just that. Looking back, her confidence level is many notches higher and she has emerged as a stronger woman ready to deal with any situation.
And she confesses that never before she had eaten in a restaurant alone or stayed in a hotel all by herself in a city with zero acquaintance to manage a pilot project! But isn’t empowerment also about learning constantly, exploring new avenues and coming out of one’s comfort zones?
Months later, she was juggling between facilitation, mobilization, coaching, developmental plans and other projects and enjoying it fully. Women are known to be multitaskers!! And she may be an introvert, but nonetheless a nurturer. The facilitation content, techniques and methodology have made her ponder and rendered it imperative that she imbibes it as well. “Knowing, Being, Doing” is what she is Striving for.
Today, for Mimly, being empowered is not just a status rather a journey. It is a continuous process of discovering oneself, knowing one’s strengths and weakness and exploring beyond one’s comfort zone to ultimately achieve what one wants.
