ASDC held its eight Annual General Meeting:The Executive Committee of the ASDC, the apex body of skill development for the auto sector, has re-elected Mr. Nikunj Sanghi as Chairman for the 2019-20. Mr Sanghi is the Managing Director, J S Four Wheel Motors Pvt Ltd. Mr. Kenichi Ayukawa, CEO, Maruti Suzuki was retained as Vice Chairman of ASDC, and Mr. F.R. RASCI Partners with McDonald’s India to Further the Government’s “Skill India” Mission: To train undergraduate students in retail operation, McDonald’s India partnered with RASCI. This is a three year BBA – Retail Operations program that offers a dual model education program and combines classroom training with on-the-job training.

Hero Motocorp sets up CoE at ITI Nizamuddin: Hero MotoCorp Ltd, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, opened a world-class training centre – The Centre of Excellence – at the Industrial Training Institute, Nizamuddin in New Delhi.
Flipkart to promote artisans, weavers in partnership with UP Khadi board: Flipkart signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Uttar Pradesh Khadi & Village Industries Board (UPKVIB) under its Samarth programme launched in July this year to onboard Indian artisans, handicraft makers, and weavers on its platform to sell.
Hitachi Air Conditioning to open Global Development Center in India: Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning announced the opening of a new Global Development Center in India. New facility will collaborate with centers in Japan and China to drive global product innovation.
SIDBI launches programme in skill development: SIDBI partnered with Usha International Limited(UIL) and launched skill development programme to encourage women entrepreneurship at the village level.
National Talent Competition was organised in Tourism & Hospitality Sector: National Talent Competition was organised for skill development in Tourism & Hospitality Sector. The objective of the competition was to create a robust and sustainable eco-system for skill development in the tourism industry and enable youth to get blue-collar jobs by participating in such programs.
Ansys collaborated with Lila Poonawalla Foundation to promote engineering education among women: Ansys, Software and Simulation company and the Lila Poonawalla Foundation signed a CSR agreement. The main objective of this collaboration is to promote engineering education among women and gender equality as a part of its CSR initiatives. This initiative will support aspiring women engineers over the next 4 years.

Government notifies changes in Apprenticeship rules: The government has notified changes in Apprenticeship Rules (1992) that envisages to increase skilled manpower in the country, and raise monetary compensation of apprentices. The Apprenticeship (Amendment) Rules, 2019 seeks to raise hiring limit of apprentices to 15 per cent of total strength of an establishment, and their stipend to up to Rs 9,000 per month.

Centre pledges Rs. 560 crore to State Governments to promote demand-driven and industry-linked skill development: Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Hon’ble Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), allocated Rs. 560 crore to state governments at the conference. The Minister made the announcement while launching ‘Apprenticeship Pakhwada’, a 15-day cross-country event in collaboration with 22 organizations to provide apprenticeship training to more than 2.5 lakh youth in the country.

100,000 skilled workers to be trained in Japanese language: Sona Yukti, the skilling arm of The Sona Group that runs Sona College of Technology is going to train 100,000 skilled workers in Japanese language. The institute is one of the few Select Indian institutions tasked by NSDC to train young talents from India for placement in Japan.
EdTech Startup uLektz collaborated with NITTTR Chandigarh to train one lakh faculties: EdTech Startup uLektz launched a skill development programme on emerging technologies in collaboration with NITTTR Chandigarh which will train one lakh faculties and higher education students across the country based on industry needs.

Delhi
More than 150 jobs were offered to youths by corporate companies during a job fair organised by the Delhi Police on Tuesday under its community policing initiative “YUVA”, officials said. The initiative provides skill training and jobs to the youth and prevents delinquency especially for those from underprivileged sections of the society, they said.
Jammu and Kashmir
Twelve out of 34 students of ASCOMS Nursing College Jammu have been selected by two Japanese companies for Technical Intern Training Program (TITP) jobs.These candidates will be issued a conditional offer letter soon after which they will join their TITP Job in Japan within 6 months and will receive approximately Rs 90,000 as salary per month for next 5 years. Out of the 12 selected candidates, 7 are from Ladakh Region and 5 are from Jammu Region.
Jharkhand
Workshop on National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) was held in Ranchi to create awareness about NAPS it was also decided that apprenticeship would be made mandatory in all the industrial units. Participants were also provided details about the Skill Saathi programme to increase outreach and create awareness through counselling.
Uttar Pradesh
Government sets up driver training institutes in divisional head quarters: Government of Uttar Pradesh has come up with training centers to help drivers learn safe driving skills with syllabus as per Motor Vehicles Act and 21 days of mandatory training.
Odisha
Odisha adjudged best state in rural skill development: The government of India has recognised Odisha as the “Best Skilling State”. Europe India Foundation for Excellence has also awarded Odisha as the ‘Best State in Rural Skill Development’ in global skill development meet organised at UNESCO headquarter of Paris.
Punjab
Government to launch a comprehensive campaign to create awareness about skill development in Punjab through Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana.
Telangana
Skill training held for photographers and videographers from Jharasangam, Nyalkal, Kohir and Raikode mandals by Media and Entertainment Skills Council
