UNESCO launches Global Skills Academy to boost employability of one million youth: UNESCO has launched Global Skills Academy. This aims to equip one million young persons with employability and resilience skills and help them find jobs during the looming recession when youth employment prospects look bleak. The Organization unveiled the project, Skills for a Resilient Youth in the Era of COVID-19 and Beyond, on World Youth Skills Day, celebrated on 15 July. Read more…
Skill development programme by Amazon India: Amazon India launched a skilling programme under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) across its warehouses in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. The initiative has launched with a pilot program for 1000 apprentices and will be scaled further. During the six month programme, the apprentices will be trained on warehousing and inventory management skills for the roles of warehouse associates and process associates and will receive a monthly stipend in line with guidelines mandated under NAPS.
Schaeffler India Announces STEP & NITARA Skill Development Initiatives: On the occasion of the World Youth Skill Day, Schaeffler India reiterated its commitment towards skilling by sharing their contribution to the under-privileged youth of India through their skill development initiatives, STEP and NITARA, which are part of the company’s HOPE CSR program.
PSSC to provide employment opportunities through its job portal: PSSC has launched a job portal ‘Vidyut Rojgar’ to provide employment opportunities to trained youth in the power sector. The portal will help bridge the gap between employers and skilled youth who trained under the Skill India Mission.
FICCI organizes a webinar on “Impact of COVID-19 on Career Advisory Services “: Center of Excellence for Career Counselling along with National Career Service, Ministry of Labor and Employment organized a Webinar on “Impact of COVID-19 on Career Advisory Services ” on 20th July at 11 am . The objective of this webinar was to discuss the impact and changes in the career guidance and counselling systems because of the pandemic.
UNICEF India collaborates with SAP India to improve employability of young people: UNICEF India has collaborated with SAP India to provide career counselling to young people in the country that will improve their employability skills in a COVID-19 and post COVID-19 era. UNICEF is collaborating with YuWaah (Generation Unlimited) under this initiative to provide digital education and occupational skillset to the underserved young people of the Country.

Andhra Pradesh
APSSDC partners with Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning for skill building: APSSDC has collaborated with Johnson Controls- Hitachi Air Conditioning India Limited to provide online skill development in the air conditioners and refrigeration sector amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
APSSDC collaborates with Flipkart to support local artisans and weavers: APSSDC has signed a MoU with Flipkart to promote the State’s arts, crafts and handloom sectors by bringing them into the e-commerce fold. The partnership will enable local artisans, weavers, and craftsmen from the 13 districts of the State to showcase their hallmark products to a pan India customer base.
Chhattisgarh
Chhattisgarh plans to employ 7 lakh migrants: The Government of Chhattisgarh is working on a comprehensive employment plan to provide permanent jobs to about 7 lakh migrant labourers who have returned to the state. The government will carry out a skill mapping exercise, provide them suitable jobs in its labour-intensive state departments and others.
Ladakh
NSTI extension centre to come up in Ladakh: National Skill Training Institute extension centre is going to come up in the Union Territory of Ladakh. The announcement was made on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day. The centre will impart quality training to the youths of Ladakh.

Maharashtra to train locals to fill in the skill gap due to migration: The Government of Maharashtra is going to train the local workforce as the state is facing a huge challenge of skill gap due to migration triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The state government looks forward to employing locally available skilled workforce with industry on an urgent basis through portals like ”SWAYAM”.
Manipur
National Skill Training Institute extension centre in Manipur: The National Skill Training Institute (NSTI), Extension Centre, Manipur was e-inaugurated at the campus of Government ITI, Takyel in the outskirt of Imphal. The centre is expected to facilitate training in the Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS) trades of motor mechanic, carpentry and electrician.
